The Island Dog Training Club is run as a professional non-profit organisation by volunteers and as we are associated with the Kennel Club we need to abide by their rules and regulations. We have to be well managed and it is essential we keep in line with the Kennel Club’s principles of fairness and integrity and support their commitment to the health and welfare of dogs.
The Club has over 21 training instructors and assistant trainers who have specialist knowledge, skills and experience. Many of our trainers have committed to good practice by being part of the Kennel Club Accredited Instructors Scheme which encourages its member to gain qualifications based on a robust assessment standard set by the Kennel Club. On joining the scheme, all members agree to abide by a code of practice which sets out the principles governing both their professional conduct and training practices.
The club is run by a committee of volunteers, who run the club behind the scenes, ensuring the building is maintained, the bills are paid and the club is run smoothly.
