REPORT Guernsey Island DTC Limit show 7.12.2024
Thank you, Terry Buckley and Guernsey Island Dog Training Club, for the invitation to judge at the December Limit Show 2024
I was asked to host a training day on the Sunday after the show on Saturday. It was limited to 10 handlers and dogs in the morning, covering Pre-Beginners to Novice and then 10 handlers in the afternoon covering Test A, B and C. We had such fun. I hope my comments and thoughts were well received and everyone enjoyed themselves

Thank you, Claire Burns and Rita Marquand, for expertly stewarding my rounds and putting the competitors at their ease, you were both amazing.
Thank you to the ladies that kept control of the scoreboard, Sue Loveridge, Tina Yabsley, Karen Le Prevost, Pat Hitchon and Jenny Prevel.
Congratulations to all the winners and those gaining special trophies at the After Show Dinner.
Thank you for the lunches and dinners, I was certainly well looked after.
It was a God send that I arrived on the Friday before Storm Darragh hit. All flights were cancelled over the weekend until Monday when I returned home, how lucky was I?
Guernsey Island DTC presented me with a beautiful cut glass whiskey tumbler at the After Show Dinner – thank you.
On Wednesday I also received a Hamper, not just any old Hamper, but an M&S Hamper – such kind and thoughtful gifts thank you so much.
We started the competitive day with Class B, then Class C, Class A, Veteran, Special Pre-Beginner, Pre-Beginner, Beginner and finishing with Novice. A total of 60 dogs worked.
Special Pre-Beginner – 6 entries
1st MABEL DEGNEN; Tibetan Terrier and Sue – Mabel and Sue produced lovely heelwork, recall was clear, play was clear. Super dog. Congratulations on this place
2nd CLARK BREHAUT; Working Cocker and Rebecca – Cracking dog, Rebecca needs to have more confidence and trust Clark. Well done
3rd BONNIE CLARK; GSD and Rebecca – Clear set exercises, well done on having two dogs in the line up, unfortunate to meet the winner today. Well done.
4th SCARLETT PATTERSON; CKCS and Julie – Heelwork costly today, tighten this exercise up and you will achieve higher placings. Well done
5th LOTTIE PATTERSON; CKCS and Andy – Heelwork needs tightening up as this exercise was costly today. Well done.
6th RUPERT INDER; LAB and Julie – Recall costly today, tighten this up and you will achieve higher placings. Well done

Pre-Beginner – 8 entries
1st FLEUR MERRIEN; X BREED and Sian – Cracking dog, would do very well competing in the UK. Super handler, super dog, super round. Congratulations
2nd ROBYN BATISTE; ROTTIE and Liza – RO for this place with the 3rd placed dog. Clear recall, Well done.
3rd SCARLETT PATTERSON; CKCS and Julie – Lovely heelwork and recall, well done on this place
4th LOTTIE PATTERSON; CKCS and Andy – Heel on lead costly today, well done on this place.
5th CHARLIE GALLIENNE; WHWT and Ricky – Heel on lead was the best exercise today. Well done on this place.

Beginner – 4 entries
1st BREEZE ELWIN; X BREED and Graham – Not much wrong today, clear set exercises, very tidy heelwork. Congratulations on your win.
2nd REGGIE KERSHAW; X BREED and Hannah – Good set exercises, Heelwork needs to be tightened up. Well done
3rd AMIGO PREECE; German Pinscher and Sam – Cracking recall, and good retrieve, heelwork let you down today. Well done.

Novice – 18 entries
1st AVA BENNETT; GSD and Jon – Won the RO with the 2nd placed dog . Lovely round from Jon and Ava, not much to judge between you and the 2nd placed dog. It was worth coming from Jersey for this win. Congratulations
2nd TANGO LE MAITRE; GR and Jane – I have judged this team before, excellent sets and HOL was good, we won’t talk about Heel free. Congratulations
3rd DELTA YABSLEY; Terv and Bettina – Good set exercises, Heelwork lost most points today. Well done on your place.
4th BOBBY DE LA MARE; X BREED and Martina – Heel free was costly today. Well done.
5th BREEZE ELWIN; X BREED and Graham – Excellent sets, unfortunately ran out of steam for Novice after winning the Beginners. Well done.
6th CULLY MARQUAND; GSD and Rita – Excellent set exercises and good Heel on Lead. Sort out HF and you will be at the other end of this line up. Well done.

Not in the cards but worthy of a mention Jenny Prevel and Tonic – Outstanding Heel free and set exercises. This was a super round. Well done.
Test A – 10 entries
1st ZEN BUCKLEY; GSD and Terry – Outstanding round from Terry and Zen. A great improvement from the last time I saw you and on this showing an exciting future ahead. Congratulations
2nd TANGO LE MAITRE; GR and Jane – Good set exercises, Heelwork needs a bit more work. Well done on this place, you are certainly consistent in your placings.
3rd AVA BENNETT; GSD and Jon – Retrieve was costly in this class – obviously saved your best work for the Novice win. Well done.
4th JAZZ HITCHON/SEWARD; BC and Pat – Heelwork and retrieve costly today. Well done on this place
5th TAZ RENOUF; BC and Madelaine – Very good recall, Heelwork needs attention. Nice scent. Well done.
6th ASHLEY DEANE; BC and Nellie – Lovely round until scent which was very costly today. Well done.

Test B – 6 entries
1st TAZ RENOUF; BC and Madelaine – A very popular win. Good Sendaway and a good scent clinched the win for this class. Congratulations.
2nd MAX LE PREVOST; X BREED and Karen – I love this dog, super round but Max decided scent wasn’t for him today. Well done.
3rd MIA LE POIDEVIN; SHELTIE and Carolyn – Good round, but costly scent. Well done.
4th ASHLEY DEANE; BC and Nellie – Very positive scent, and a good retrieve. Well done.
5th TESS MARTEL; BC and Margaret – Costly retrieve and scent today. Excellent sendaway. Well done.

Test C – 3 entries
1st TEAL COLLINS; BC and Sandra – Excellent sendaway, great retrieve. Heelwork costly. Congratulations on this place.
2nd HATTIE DOWDING; POLISH LOWLAND SHEEPDOG and Val – Good sendaway and retrieve, costly scent. Well done.
3rd TESS MARTEL; BC and Margaret – Good sendaway and best DC of the day. Well done.

Veteran – 4 entries

After the Training day we went to the After Show Dinner. Thank you for the invitation, it was a great evening.
